Donate to the Friends of Conquest

If you would like to say thank you for the excellent care you or one of your family and friends have received at the Conquest or just want to help the hospital acquire even better equipment and services for the benefit of everyone in the local community, there are a number of ways in which you can donate and make a real difference.

If you are a UK taxpayer the value of what you give to the Friends can be increased by 25% through Gift Aid, and if you wish to leave the Friends a legacy it will not be subject to inheritance tax.

Higher rate and additional rate taxpayers can also reclaim tax on any other form of donations they make to the Friends eg through MyDonate or via a cheque. This is normally equivalent to £25 and £31.25 respectively on every £100 they give.

There are a number of ways in which you can make a donation to the Friends:

1. Give online on a one-off or regular basis.

We’ve arranged an online donation facility with BT Donate. We’re very grateful to BT as they offer a service that is completely free and  every penny you donate to us goes to supporting the Conquest Hospital.

2. Give via sms and Just Giving.

Once again we thank Vodaphone Just Text Giving. The Text Giving Service we use ensures 100% of your donation will be used to fund initiatives at Conquest Hospital. You can give up to £10 by text.

3. Donate by cheque

Write a cheque to The Friends of Conquest Hospital and send it to the Friends office together with a completed copy of this donation form to the address provided.

4. Leave a legacy to the Friends in your will.

If you already have a will your solicitor can prepare a simple codicil to include whatever form of legacy to the Friends you prefer.

Three common legacies are;

A residuary legacy

This is a share of the balance of your estate, once all other payments have been made. You can still ensure other beneficiaries are taken care of first.

A pecuniary legacy

You may prefer to leave a fixed amount of money. Please do consider inflation proofing the legacy; for an example, an index-linked pecuniary legacy.

A specific legacy

A gift of specific items such as personal possessions, land, buildings or shares.

Such gifts are a very worthwhile way to celebrate the life of a loved one to whom you can dedicate your gift.

5. Donate straight from your salary or pension.

If your employer, company or personal pension provider runs a Payroll Giving scheme you can donate straight from your salary or pension. This happens before tax is deducted from your income.
Ask your employer or pension provider if they run a Payroll Giving scheme
The tax relief you get for this form of donation depends on the rate of tax you pay. For example, to donate £10 a month you pay:

  • £8 if you’re a basic rate taxpayer

  • £6 if you’re a higher rate taxpayer

  • £5.50 if you’re an additional rate taxpayer

6. Become a Volunteer

If you’d like to volunteer and help out for a few hours a week in the Hospital press the link below.  The Hospital volunteers carry out a wide variety of very helpful and supporting roles manning information desks, helping on the wards, working in the flower, the gift or the mobile shop and much much more.
